The CIQC works both on internal research coordination (coordinating research within the CIQC), and also on external research coordination (coordinating research related to CIQC research aims and involving CIQC researchers within the broader QIS sphere).
The CIQC’s research coordination work has both internal and external aspects. Internal research coordination across the CIQC generates the added value of the CIQC as a collaborative enterprise. Externally, we work to coordinate research and education efforts across the quantum ecosystem, drawing more people to work on the scientific topics we identify as important and providing added value of our institute to the broader QIS community.
Internal Research
The CIQC annual meetings feature presentations and ample discussion of cutting-edge research; dedicated free discussion sessions on a range of topics; talks and panels on developments in the quantum industry; presentations on pedagogy and mentoring; and more.

External Research
CIQC’s strong partnership with the Simons Instuitute for the Theory of Computing allows the CIQC to coordinate quantum computing research at the national and international level. The Simons Institute is the world’s leading venue for collaborative research in theoretical computer science. The partnership with CIQC has allowed the Simons Institute to keep a steady focus on quantum information science.
