Research Coordination

External Research Coordination

The CIQC works to coordinate research and education efforts across the quantum ecosystem, drawing more people to work on the scientific topics we identify as important and providing added value of our institute to the broader QIS community.  Our external research coordination activities include those directed at the academic quantum science and technology community, at industrial quantum research and development, and at international research collaborations; see our integrated activities matrix for details.

CIQC/IPAM Partnership

The CIQC has partnered with IPAM to advance research at the overlap of mathematical sciences and quantum information science and to promote the expansion of quantum information science coursework, faculty appointments, and research with mathematics departments and the mathematics community.

CIQC/IQIM Partnership

The Institute for Quantum Information and Matter (IQIM) at Caltech is a National Science Foundation Physics Frontiers Center (NSF Grant PHY-2317110). IQIM seeks to exploit and advance an emerging revolution in quantum science spurred by recent developments in quantum information, atomic-molecular optical physics, and condensed matter physics.

CIQC/Q-FARM Workshops

The CIQC/Q-FARM exchange is designed to allow graduate students a unique opportunity to gain access to labs, practice their presentation skills, and to begin relationships with other graduate students who will be their peers and colleagues as they progress throughout their careers.

CIQC/Simons Events

The CIQC and the Simons Institute have partnered to establish the Quantum Research Pod.  The Quantum Pod organizes a range of events that draw together CIQC personnel and other academic, industry and national-lab QIS researchers.

CIQC/Simons Quantum Colloquium

This colloquium series features talks by some of the foremost experts in quantum computation in the form of “an invitation to research in area X”. With the explosion of interest in quantum computation, there is a dizzying flurry of results, as well as a diverse group of researchers who are drawn to this field.

Cal-Bay

The technology and expertise required to achieve practical quantum computing is distributed globally, and an international collaborative effort is needed to realize quantum advantage. CIQC aims to contribute to this collaboration by organizing the Cal-Bay Quantum School, an initiative aimed at strengthening academic and research ties between the quantum science communities across California and Bavaria.
